MR 4.B Analysis on Purgatory

The Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ is very similar to the scene of Gandolf because Gandalf's battle with Balrog resembles how Jesus descended to Hell and brought the righteous souls up to Heaven. I relate how Aragorn lead the people to the mountain as Judas betraying Jesus because in both instances the leader is trapped and left to battle his own battle by himself. Also Gandalf resembles Jesus because he is eternal and is not limited to time. The Passion of Christ is shown in when Gandalf endures the hardships of battle. The Resurrection is when Jesus resurrects after three days. Gandalf also "resurrects" and is present to accomplish his mission and work cut out for him in the world.
