MR 4.F: Significance of the Resurrection

Our sins are forgiven through reconciliation, sacraments, and God's undeserved forgiveness to our sins. Ultimately they are forgiven because of the Crucifixtion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christ sets it by allowing people to ask for forgiveness and forgiving them. We see it when Mary of Magdalene  pleads for forgiveness and Jesus says you're sins are forgiven, sin no more. We also have to do penance in order to complete the cycle of forgiveness. Although Jesus did not have to die for us, He was obedient to His Father and fulfilled the Protoevangelium. Jesus handed the authority to forgive men's sins to his Apostles who then passed it from generation to generation.
